What is Digital Dentistry?
Digital dentistry refers to the use of digital technology in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of dental care. This includes things like digital X-rays, 3D imaging, and computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) for things like dental crowns and implants. The goal of digital dentistry is to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and patient experience of dental care. At Simcoe Kids & Family Dental, we incorporate digital xrays, CBCT for guided implant placement, digital impressions, CAD/CAM and 3D Printing.
Digital Impressions
Digital dental impressions are a way to capture the precise shape of a patient’s teeth and gums using digital technology, rather than traditional methods such as using putty-like materials to make physical molds. Once the digital impression is captured, it can be used to create a variety of dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, and orthodontic appliances. Digital impressions are more accurate than traditional impressions and can reduce the need for multiple appointments and remakes.
